Hello everyone! Welcome to Inkquiring Minds. I’m Doug, and I’m back with another Pen Resurrection Sunday video. Today’s pen on the slab is ready for a resurrection: a 1950-1960 Conway Stewart 58. This model is famous as the Indiana Jones pen because it was featured in the film Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, starring Sean Connery. A scene in the movie involved a fountain pen playing a crucial role in the plot, and this very pen was used. The Conway Stewart 58 was manufactured in England between 1949 and 1963. Today, I’ll show you the pen’s current state, assess its restoration needs, and guide you through the entire process of reviving this classic pen.

So, what are my thoughts on this fountain pen resurrection? Well, my first thought is to keep it away from my snake pen rest, since Indy absolutely hates snakes. My second thought is that I’m not giving up this pen. If you’ve been waiting this long to see how much I’m willing to sell it for, I’m sorry to disappoint, but it’s not going anywhere except my next pen club meeting. Winn is getting her silver yard pocket Victorian for Christmas, and I’m getting this 1950s Conway Stewart 58. I’m just going to pretend it was made in the year of my birth. Oh my god, it’s so juicy and beautiful!

My third thought is about the resurrection itself. It couldn’t have gone better. Aside from the minor challenge of finding the perfect nib feed and section to align the nib, this resurrection was almost effortless. I had to scrape away the remnants of a fossilized latex sack, but overall, it was a success.

The rest of 2025 is coming up, and I’ll be back before 2026 with a couple more videos next week. Thanks for watching! That’s all for now. I made this!
