Hello there and welcome to Inkquiring Minds. My name is Doug, and I’m back with another Pen Resurrection Sunday video. Today’s pen, for resurrection, is this Parker 51 Aerometric from 1949. It has a gold-filled cap, a black body, and is, as I mentioned, an Aerometric filler. They started making these in 1948 when they retired the vacuumatic. And this one is from the 1948-4950 era. So, I'm excited to see how this one might write.

THOUGHTS

So, what are my thoughts on this pen resurrection pen conversion? I really enjoy converting Parker 51 aerometrics. Purists might say I’m ruining the original, but isn’t the point of a pen to be used? This conversion brings it back to practical life, making it a daily writer’s tool. Now, it can use a Parker converter or cartridges, truly resurrected and converted.

This one went exceptionally well. I was expecting it to go well, but that rarely happens when I anticipate success. Usually, something goes wrong. The only challenge was removing the clip, but I polished the cap without it. There’s still a slight indentation, but I pressed it out from the inside. I don’t have the equipment to remove the clip, clutch mechanism, cap seal, and put it on a mandrel. Despite the years of wear and abrasions, it’s now in showroom condition. I’m really pleased with the juicy medium nib. A job well done!
