Hello there! Welcome to my channel. My name is Doug, and I'm back with another pen Resurrection Sunday video.

Today, we’re going to examine the Estherbrook J fountain pen I acquired last Sunday. By the way, I showed you the Parker Golden Pearl in the resurrection video from last week. Within minutes of that video going live, I picked this up at a local antique store. These are lovely little pens and quite cool to collect. This is a fourth-generation Estherbrook model J. It has Estherbrook on the clip, a rounded Dome plastic top and bottom, jewels, and Estherbrook engraved in the barrel. It’s made in Canada, and there are no cracks or chips on this lever-filled fountain pen. However, it has a lot of scratching. I would guess this pen is from around the early 1950s.

There are no date codes on these pens to determine their manufacturing dates, but this is the last iteration of this pen. The nib on this one is a 2668 Estherbrook-made in the USA steel fountain pen nib with a neonite feed. That 2668 designation indicates it’s suitable for everyday writing use. However, I’m not sure if all nibs are like this. Let’s take a look at the tip.

How flat it is! When I did a dip test on that nib, it wrote like glass. I’m impressed with this nib so far. It’s slightly misaligned, scratching a bit, and feels like an italic with those sharp edges.

I might have to do some tuning on that. We need to get that nib and feed out of that section.

Well, what are my thoughts on this fountain pen Resurrection? I adore these little Esther Brooks pens. They come in such vibrant Celluloid colours. This particular one has a reddish-brown hue that reminds me of root beer. I love this colour! I’ve had a few Resurrected Ed pens, and some of them are truly beautiful in blue and a mesmerizing galaxy blue. However, sometimes they arrive in quite rough shape, with broken clips and loose or damaged cap bands. Repairing those clips can be quite challenging. Occasionally, the end of the pen is scratched or pulled off.

When I visited the antique store to purchase this pen, I didn’t have a loop with me, and my eyesight isn’t particularly good. As a result, I couldn’t examine the nib closely. However, when I got home, I was pleasantly surprised to find that it was a cursive nib, writing exceptionally well. I’m incredibly happy with this Resurrection pen.

These pens aren’t particularly expensive because many of them didn’t survive in good shape. This one, however, is in excellent condition. I polished it up so that it almost looks brand new. I’ve included a new sachet with it, and I’ve shellacked the section down. There will be a slight haze as the shellac dries, but I’ve wiped off any excess. Once it’s completely dry, I’ll polish that section again and give the pen another overall polish.

Notice the marks on the cap after polishing. This is because the cap makes those marks. I’ll polish it again, but this pen will be an everyday writer for someone.

I'm very pleased with how it's come back to life, so I'm selling this pen for $90 US plus shipping. If you're interested in purchasing this pen, contact me at inkquiringminds@gmail.com with your name and your address, and I'll get you a shipping quote. Shipping to contiguous North America is roughly about $10 US these days

Those of you who are members of Inkquiring Minds will see this Resurrection first, before it goes live on Sunday. You'll get first dibs on purchasing this beautiful fountain pen.

If you're interested in upcoming resurrections, I just purchased this Parker Vacumatic pen and pencil set in a unique Celluloid called "Shadow Wave." Instead of being horizontal stripes of stacked Celluloid, it is vertical stripes. They are rarer than the regular ones. That should be coming into my hands in the next week or so.

And that just leaves it for me to say thank you for watching!

And that's all she wrote!
