THIS PEN HAS SOLD!

Hello there. Welcome to Inkquiring Minds. My name is Doug and I'm back with another pen resurrection Sunday video.

Today's pen back from the dead and ready for resurrection is this 1930s to 1940s Waterman's Junior fountain pen in green pearl celluloid. It’s a lever-filler and a nice example of early 40s Waterman’s celluloid fountain pen. This pen is fairly small, measuring 4 and 3/4 inches capped. It’s made in Canada and features the ideal logo in the centre. The pen was made in St. Lambert Quebec, and is marked "Junior". There are no other markings on it.

According to Google, the Waterman Jr. is a specific model of fountain pen, most commonly identified as a lever-fill pen manufactured in Canada during the 1930s and 1940s. These pens were part of the ideal series, known for being a durable entry-level option. They were sometimes used to bypass tariffs in export markets like the UK. The Waterman Jr. is recognized by its small size, junior designation on the barrel, and a nib and lever filling system.

THOUGHTS

So, what are my thoughts on this pen resurrection? Well, I’m really pleased with this lovely little green celluloid pen. The only noticeable signs of age are on the clip, where the chrome cap has slightly corroded over the years. Some of the plating has come off, but the cap band came up beautifully. The nib is the nicest part of this resurrection; it was in pretty good shape to begin with and just needed a little polishing. The very shiny ebonite feed is also great; the section is really nice and shiny, and all the scratches and dings of many years of use are gone. As I mentioned, it’s a small pen. It’s 120 mm long when capped, 145 mm long when posted, and it’s 10 mm thick at the barrel.

Let’s compare it to a Parker Vacuumatic from 1945. When capped, it’s significantly shorter, but almost the same size when posted. In hand-posted form, it’s comfortably long enough to write with. I’m very pleased with the pearlescent green celluloid finish. It’s beautiful!

If you’re interested in this pen, I’m selling it for $80 US plus shipping. Simply email me at inkquiringminds@gmail.com with your name and address so I can provide you with a shipping quote.

This pen was made in Canada by a US company, but it doesn’t matter. It’s Canadian, so it will be subject to a 35% tariff if you’re in the United States.

That’s all for now! Thank you for watching!
