Hello there. Welcome to my channel. My name is Doug, and I'm back with another pen resurrection Sunday video.
Today, I planned to restore this beautiful Conway Stewart 84 pen in crushed red celluloid. It’s a 1950s pen, but I’ve decided to save it for the Dutch pen show in Utrecht this June 6th and 7th. I’ll be attending and doing a couple of workshops called “Inquiring Minds Vintage Maintenance,” where I’ll discuss basic maintenance of vintage pens and restoration of lever and button fillers. I need a pen to demonstrate and work on, and this one is perfect. It’s a lever filler made of celluloid with an ebony section and a 14-karat gold nib. It’s in rough shape, so we’ll work on it for a couple of workshops as a demonstration. I’ll try not to break it!
Thanks to Joost Appelboom, the organizer of the Dutch pen show, who invited me and sponsored my trip to Amsterdam and Utrecht. I’m really looking forward to it. So, I’ll put this pen aside until June and work on one of Murray’s pens instead.
This is a 1932 Wall Eversharp Doric, a vest-size or junior-size pen in gorgeous pearlescent, translucent burgundy pearl celluloid, also known as Morocco pearl. It’s beautifully faceted. A couple of weeks ago, I restored another of Murray’s Eversharp Dorics in the same Morocco pearl. This one is still for sale. Murray and I have reduced the price to $500 US from the original $630. If you’re interested in this beautiful oversize 1932 Wall Eversharp Doric, send me an email at inkquiringminds@gmail.com with your name and address. I’ll send you a shipping quote and instructions on how to pay with PayPal.
The vest pocket pen is significantly smaller than the oversized version. It measures about 113 mm in length, capped. The short vest pocket clip goes right up to the top, almost disappearing in your pocket. This clip was also once called a military clip, making it ideal for uniform pockets. It’s a lever-filler pen with a single small cap band featuring rectangular lozenges all around. It’s in excellent condition, though it shows some wear after about 95 years. Let’s examine it closely to determine what it needs to return to its former glory.
THOUGHTS
So, what are my thoughts on this pen resurrection? Well, first off, it’s a gorgeous little pen. There wasn’t much wrong with it; it just needed resacking and a bit of polishing. No major gouges or scratches, so I used minimal micro-mesh to give it a brand-new, shiny finish. The nib and feed came out beautifully, and now it has a new sack and holds ink. The best part? The flexible nib goes from 0.25 to 0.3 mm, and with a push, it expands to 1 mm. The pen holds 0.42 ml of ink.
This pen belongs to Murray, and I’m restoring it and selling it for him. We’ve agreed on a price of $300 US for this beautiful vest pocket 1932 Art Deco Wall Eversharp Doric in beautiful Morocco red. If you’re interested, email me at inkquiringminds@gmail.com with your name and address. I’ll send you a shipping quote and instructions on how to pay PayPal.
Don’t forget, this pen’s big brother, the circa 1932 Wall Eversharp Doric in Morocco Red Pearl, is also for sale. We’ve reduced the price to $500 US. If you’re interested in either or both pens, let me know by email.
Thanks to Murray for allowing me to resurrect these beautiful pens. There are three more Dorics yet to come, and you’ll be seeing them soon. For now, that’s it.
