1949 Parker 51 Aerometric - CONVERTED! *SOLD* ($100 US)

HOW TO CONVERT AN AEROMETRIC

THIS PEN HAS SOLD!

Hello, and welcome to Inkquiring Minds! My name is Doug, and I'm back with another Pen Resurrection Sunday video.

I'm going to do something a little different today. I'll use this 1949 Parker 51 Aerometric I've just purchased to show you how to change a Parker 51 Aerometric into a modern fountain pen that can use either Parker cartridges or a Parker converter.

Parker's biggest mistake, in my opinion, was replacing the venerable Vacumatic filling system with the Aerometric. Of course, it was modern and space-aged when it was introduced in 1948, but anyone who has owned an aerometric Parker 51 will know what a pain in the ass they are to fill, clean, and maintain.

I've adapted two Aerometrics so far using this technique and I want to show you step-by-step how to do this yourself. One word of caution to begin. This is a one-way conversion. It's permanent and there's no going back. So only proceed at your own risk! I'm not responsible if you break it!

Let's look at this step-by-step process.

Step one: get yourself a Parker 51 aerometric

Step two: buy a brass converter

Step three: convert the pen

It's as easy as that!

Okay, okay, so it's a little more complicated than playing the flute, but let's take a look at the process anyway.

MY THOUGHTS

So there you go. After you get the shell off, converting this pen with the brass adapter just takes a few minutes. The cleaning and polishing of course takes some time in elbow grease but this is the easiest pen resurrection I can think of. You don't need any expensive or specialized tools or equipment.

The best part of this conversion is you can have what is arguably the best designed fountain pen in history writing like new with a modern convenient ink filling system as your everyday writer. As always with these kinds of do-it-yourself projects, your mileage may vary. Do the conversion at your own risk! I'm not responsible! I hope this guide helps!

As to this newly converted 1949 Parker 51, I'm selling it for $100 US plus shipping. I would usually sell this for $120 US, but I'm discounting this one because of the corrosion on the cap and the clip. The rest of this pen is gorgeous and it writes beautifully.

If you're interested email me at inquiringminds@gmail.com with your name and address so I can respond with a shipping quote and instructions on how to pay using my PayPal. The first person to pay my Paypal for the pen gets it. Just expressing your interest in it will not hold it for you. First pay, first served.

Also, please know that members of my channel see this video sometimes days before it goes public for everyone else, so they get first dibs on any of these pen resurrections for sale.

You can join as a member of my channel too for only 99 cents a month and I guarantee I'll answer your comments in the comment section and you'll get cool emojis, badges, sneak peek unboxing videos, as well as the aforementioned instant access to these videos the moment I upload them.

And that just leaves it for me to say thank you watching.

And that's all she wrote!
