THIS PEN HAS BEEN SOLD!
Hello there. Welcome to Ink Inkquiring Minds. My name is Doug, and I'm back with another Pen Resurrection Sunday video.
Today, I’m tackling this Shearer balance from the late 1930s, and I’m using a beautiful vertically stacked green celluloid and green striped celluloid for the video.
However, I’ll have to wait for parts. We’ll put that pen aside for now. So, I reached out and grabbed a trusty old vacuumatic. By old, I mean really old. This is the pen resurrection I’m doing today. I thought about this one because it’s been sitting in my pen box for over a year. It’s a Parker Vacumatic Junior with a gold clip, black body, two gold cap bands, and an imprint that reads “Parker Vacumatic” made in the USA, followed by a six with two dots. That’s the second quarter of 1946.
THOUGHTS
So, what are my thoughts on this pen resurrection? I was a bit disappointed that I couldn’t work on the Sheaffer because I needed more parts and expertise. However, I’ve ordered the right parts from Pen Tooling, and they should arrive in a couple of weeks. Then, we’ll tackle the Sheaffer Balance Vac.
I’m also excited about my next video, which will feature a Conway Stewart 58 from the 1950s in beautiful lilac celluloid. I’ll use this pen to create a fountain pen resurrection 101 workshop video, covering all the steps needed to restore a pen that’s been dead for a long time. I’ll show you how to remove the nib, replace the latex sack, polish the gold and celluloid, and tweak and tune a gold nib. I’ll also discuss the materials and tools I use. This video will serve as a primer for me as I prepare my workshop for the Dutch Pen Show in less than a month.
But back to this pen. If I was disappointed that I couldn’t get to the Sheaffer Balance Vac filler, this pen was far from disappointed. It’s been waiting in my pen pouch for over a year, ready for restoration. It was particularly chewed up and dingy, but now it’s incredibly happy. Not only does it look like it’s brand new, but it’s also writing like it’s brand new. This is an exceptionally fine nib with a lot of bounce. I’ve fine-tuned it to produce beautiful writing. It requires almost 1.5 millilitres of ink. The pen posts beautifully in classic gold and black, but it’s not solid black; there’s a touch of transparency. Currently, the pen is full of ink, but you’ll be able to see the ink levels inside when it runs out. This is a gorgeous fountain pen.
If you’d like to own this pen, I’m selling it for $200 US plus shipping. To purchase it, simply email me at inkquiringminds@gmail.com with your name and address. I’ll provide you with a shipping quote and instructions on how to pay using PayPal.

And that's all she wrote.
