1946 Parker Vacumatic Debutante (SOLD for $120 US)

Updated: Nov 14

THIS PEN HAS SOLD!

Welcome back to Inkquiring Minds, my name is Doug, and thanks for joining me for another Pen Resurrection Sunday. Today’s dead fountain pen ready for resurrection is this 1946 Parker Vacumatic Debutante. This is the first Deb-sized Vacumatic I’ve owned.

I’ve resurrected two Parker 51 Vacumatics that were demi-sized, and those were gorgeous pens. They are a bit small for my hands but I know some of you will appreciate the smaller size. In my new format for these resurrections, I’ve usually done these little introductions after having successfully restored the pen.

This time I’m taking a bit of a risk and doing this intro before touching the pen at all.

Let’s see what we’re dealing with today.

THOUGHTS

So what are my thoughts on this fountain pen resurrection?

I thought this little Debutante was going to throw me some curves when I was trying to get that pellet out, but it turned out nicely.

The whole pen was in excellent shape to start. The nib was intact and needed only minor adjusting. The pen came apart easily as if it had already been taken apart recently. There were no remnants of the old diaphragm inside the barrel which just confirms for me that someone had disassembled the pen, cleaned it out but never replaced the diaphragm.

It is odd to go that far and not make the pen work but it was a bonus for me, making the restoration much easier.

The pen looks almost brand new, and writes beautifully, but is a little small for my hand.

I know this pen would fit someone out there with smaller hands and who is interested in writing with a fully restored, beautiful, vintage, 78-year-old pen, with a nice fine line.

If you are interested in purchasing this pen, just drop me a note at inkquiringminds@gmail.com and I’ll let you know how you can buy it.

I’m pricing it at $120 US plus $20 US for shipping via PayPal.

And there you have it.

And as always, thanks for watching,

And that’s all she wrote!
