THIS PEN HAS BEEN SOLD!

Hello there. Welcome to Inkquiring Minds. My name is Doug, and I'm back with another fountain pen resurrection Sunday video.

Today’s video has two parts. I started restoring a Schaffer 1936-1942 Sheaffer Balance Vac-fil set, but I discovered the vacuum rod was completely corroded. I’ve ordered another from PenTooling, which will take a couple of weeks. So, you’ll see the second part in the next video.

In the first part, I’m working on the next pen on my list: a beautiful 1925-1927 Parker Duofold Jr. in black ebonite. It’s a button filler and appears to be in relatively good condition. It has a 14-karat gold Duofold nib and an ebonite feed. However, the nib seems misaligned, there’s old ink on the pen, and the button filler doesn’t move. I’ll triage this second fountain pen today and see what it takes to bring it back to life.

So, what are my thoughts on this Pen Resurrection? Aside from the nib, which was a bit of a challenge to get back into shape and properly tuned, the pen came apart and reassembled surprisingly easily. It looks gorgeous, with no major flaws. Everything appears brand new, even though it’s 100 years old. I doubt I’ll look this beautiful when I’m 100. Perhaps a little polishing would help.

This gorgeous pen is a good size and writes beautifully when posted. I’ve measured my lines here, and they range from 0.5 to 0.6 mm. With a push, the nib reaches 0.9 mm, making it a medium nib. It has a built-in B for bold or broad writing. This is a medium pen, and it’s wet, juicy, and incredibly smooth.

If you’re interested in purchasing this 100-year-old Parker Duofold Jr. Lucky Curve, I’m selling it for $150 USD plus shipping. Please email me at inquiringminds@gmail.com with your name and address. I’ll provide a shipping quote and PayPal payment instructions.
